Aidan Loves Chores

I decided that Aidan was old enough to start doing little things around the house to help clean, besides picking up his own toys. So I thought I would start with a small thing here and there... and sorting silverware was just the thing. He LOVES doing it! I know we are still in the "honeymoon phase" but I pray that it lasts! He thinks it is so cool to be doing something that mom used to do! He even wants to sort the dirty ones when they are in the dishwasher waiting to be ran. When he is done it does require a little rearranging by mom, after all it is hard to tell the difference between a large fork and a small one, but I can do it later when he is not looking so as not to undermined his job well done! :) I hope I can still post a blog entry with the same title when he is 16. (One can always dream)

Like Father, Like Son

The other night I came around the corner to find both my boys sitting watching the Spurs game like this (GO SPURS).

David said that for a few minutes before this Aidan was doing everything that he was doing. Aidan sure does love his Dad!!!

My Birthday Gifts!

I had a wonderful birthday. Aidan spoiled me with an assortment of gifts, the first one being he told (once) me he had to go potty. (We will take whatever we can get in the potty training arena.) Second, he went and got the CHRISTMAS wrapping paper out from under my bed and wanted me to wrap some presents. He would go and retrieve a toy and have me wrap it. Once they were all wrapped he opened them for me, even acting surprised and excited as he opened them.

Here are the cute gifts he gave me. The last two days when we have come across this orange car he says, "your new car mom".... if only!

He continued to give me gifts throughout the day also including a "new" sippy-cup, some more cars, and an elephant. Aidan also wanted to make a birthday hat... I don't know where this idea came from but here he is modeling his hat!

I was hoping for a cute family pic before dinner but this is what we ended up with. What can I say, Aidan's 2 and refused to give a normal smile and Brinn wasn't in the happiest of moods.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Well, it's 7:30 am on mother's day and you might be asking what I am doing up so early? Shouldn't I be sleeping in while my wonderful husband takes care of the kids. Yes! :)David had to work for a couple hours this morning so it's the daily grind for just a few more hours. :) I am actually grateful for this time to reflect on the two munchkins in my life that make me a mother and their great dad, and the mothers in my life. There is no doubt about it... I have been blessed!

David had to go and sit reserve at the airport this morning, and if any pilot calls in sick or doesn't make it for their flight for whatever reason, they will use him. So in the event that they use him and he ends up being gone all day today he gave me my Mother's Day gifts a little early. He and Aidan made a scrapbook page for me including hand prints and pictures! It is so cute! That alone would be the perfect Mother's Day gift but this year I was spoiled. I ended up with a pair of diamond earrings, which was a Mother's Day/ Birthday Gift. They are beautiful! Thanks David and kiddos. Gifts aside, my best gifts ever are Aidan and Brinn. They bring me so much joy and happiness. They constantly keep me laughing and I love watching them grow and become these little people. I always used to ask my mom, "How much do you love me?" and she would say, "More than you will ever know until your a mom." Now I understand and she was right. There is no love out there that even comes close to the way a mom loves her kids!

I have also been blessed with an amazing mom. Anyone that knows her knows just how amazing she is. She is constantly putting her children before herself, in fact she puts almost everyone before herself. She is cute and fun, and was always the "cool mom" growing up. She lights up a room just by being in it and people are drawn to her like a magnet with her outgoing personality. Most importantly, she loves me, my kids, and my hubby! Most people are terrified to become like their mothers, but I hope I can be even half the mom that she is!

One of the reasons my mom is so amazing is because of her mom. My grandma is the most creative grandma, constantly starting fun traditions that have given me memories I will cherish forever. Even though we have not lived by her in many years, she still makes the effort to come and visit often. I love my grandma and am thankful for her every day.

Finally, I was blessed with another mom when I married David. Lynda treats me like one of her own children. She is always available to help, even if that means traveling thousands of miles. She is constantly spoiling my kids... and isn't that what grandmas do best :) I am thankful for her and her love and support.

Like I said, I have been blessed!

To All My Fellow Scrappers...

I don't know about you but I get some of my best ideas from looking at other people's pages. For years my sister Mandi, my friend Kathleen, and I have been emailing each other our most recent scrapbook pages to help give each other ideas. I figured since we are such great scrappers it is about time we share our talents with everyone... okay, so that might be a stretch (at least in my case.) Actually, I thought it would be fun to open it up for anyone what wanted to join in on sharing their pages. You can check out the scrapbooking blog by clicking the link on the right-hand side labeled Scrap on Scrappers or by typing http://scraponscrappers.blogspot.com in your address bar. Anyone that wants to post their pages is welcome... in fact, the more the merrier! Just leave me a comment on this post or on the new blog and I can add you as an author.

I DID IT!

I have finally managed to get a few scrapbook pages done! I even organized my scrapbook room and I will have to blog some pics of my work-space sometime.

This is the first page I have done of Brinn and so this is going to be the cover of her book. (I love this pic of her)

Here are some pics I took of Aidan on his 2nd Birthday. He looked so cute in his little "longhorns" hat. This page is really simple but I wanted all the focus to be on the pics and not to be busy with patterned paper. Anyways, it didn't turn out to be my favorite but oh well, but one page down, ????? more to go!

Anyone that scrapbooks knows that the hardest part is actually getting started! So now I have caught the scraping bug again and hopefully will be on a role! (Heaven knows I need it)

Just For Fun...
